This week I am grabbing a glass of wine at a new spot in the West Village called Perla Cafe.   Perla cafe is an intimate Italian restaurant with a menu of homemade pastas, interesting wines, and a fun vibe.   The interior is super chic which makes it the perfect spot to meet up with friends for some drinks.  I decided to put together one of my favorite looks for happy hour which is an all black outfit that will take you from drinks well into the evening if you decide to stay out.  The layered Anine Bing lace bodysuit under the wrap top adds a touch of edge and the pony hair booties give the outfit a little bit of polish.  This is a perfect look for a casual night out!  Since I have never been to this restaurant before, I decided to spice things up a little and try a new wine that I've never had before called Grüner Veltliner.  Grüner Veltliner is a dry white wine primarily grown in Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.   This particular glass is from a bottle of 2015 Vorspannhof Mayr wine from Austria.  Overall, I really loved the wine and the vibe of restaurant.  Check out my wine review below!

What The Experts Say:

Grüner Veltliner produces very refreshing, tangy wines with a certain white pepper, dill, even gherkin character. The wines are spicy and interesting and in general this is because of the grape's own intrinsic qualities because the great majority of them, unlike Chardonnays, see no new oak. They are generally fermented in stainless steel and aged either in tanks or very old, large casks, although there have been recent experiments, not always successful, with barrique-aged Grüner Veltliner.

What I say:

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this wine.  I tend to be very picky about white wine because I really don't like it if it is super dry.  This particular Grüner Veltliner is just a tiny bit dry and it is okay because it somehow makes it  super crisp and refreshing.   It has subtle fruit tones and just the right amount of spice.  I would recommend this to both white and red wine lovers. Perfect for a light and refreshing sip!
