I love it when I discover a new place in the city for an after work drink or dinner with friends. Last summer while walking along the Hudson River on the west side, I noticed that they were building a new restaurant at Pier 26. I made a mental note to myself that I would check it out once it was finished and the weather started to warm up again. I was even more excited to go when I found out it was going to be a new City Winery restaurant! What could be better than sitting outside on the roof deck right on the Hudson River with sweeping views of both NYC and Jersey City as the background!? Last week when I stopped in I learned that not only is this a great after work spot for a drink, but it also has an extensive food menu, live events and a winery where they produce their own range of wines. During this visit I decided to try the sauvignon blanc which is a tap wine made locally in NYC. I have to say that it was excellent and went perfectly with the vibe of the whole day. I sat outside overlooking the water while enjoying the wine and people watching. The rustic and bright atmosphere here is casual so my simple white button-up and destroyed jeans made for the perfect outfit. To shop the wine, or my look click the links above or below.

What The Experts Say:
Bright yellow straw color. Toasty aromas and flavors of sourdough toast, grapefruit marmalade, peach compote, and creamy nougat with a supple, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a smooth, interesting, carefree baking spice, passionfruit and guava, and yellow pepper finish with fine, crunchy tannins and no oak. A crisp, refreshing sauvignon blanc with nice tropical fruit and balance in a fume style.
What I Say:
This sauvignon blanc is super crisp, light and refreshing. As someone who is just starting to get into sauvignon blanc, I have to say I really enjoyed the light, fruity flavor of this wine. Bonus points for being locally made!
