My search for the perfect outdoor sidewalk table continues this week with a stop in at Seabird restaurant in Greenwich Village, NYC.  Seabird is a Mediterranean restaurant with a bistro like atomsphere and a beachy vibe.  Even though the menu predominately focuses on seafood (which I don't eat), the outdoor seating makes this place the perfect pit stop for a glass of wine on a nice sunny day.   On this visit I ordered a glass of the Raimbault Sancerre and sat right outside under the awning and watched everyone walking up and down 6th avenue.  Since I was making a stop while running errands, I had on a super casual outfit.  This Michael Stars top is one of my favorite purchases this summer. The shoulder cut outs are perfect for heading into the fall season and the color adds a great pop to the outfit.  Pair it with destroyed denim and metallic sandals for maximum shine.  To shop the wine, or this look click the links above and below.

This classic Sancerre wine is white, bracingly acidic, and has pungent aromas of gooseberries, grass, nettles, and a hint of stony minerality. 

What I Say:

I recently started drinking Sancerre to switch things up from my typical rosé.  This glass was so crisp and refreshing!  It was perfect for this hot summer day.  With notes of lemon and pear, it is perfect for pairing with seafood or a chicken dish.  Two thumbs up!

One of my favorite places in the world to travel is Paris.  I could walk around all day popping into the different cafes for a glass of wine and small bite to eat.  Since I am not able to get to Paris often, I love to go to Buvette in the West Village of NYC to get my fix.  This small neighborhood spot instantly transports me back to those small spots in Paris that you just happen to stumble upon.  I love everything about Buvette.  Not only does it have a rustic European vibe, but the wine and food selection is amazing.  Today I stopped by for a glass of Domaine la Remejeanne from the Cotes-du-Rhone region of France and a slice of Noble Road cheese.  Noble Road is a young cows' milk cheese that is the epitome of buttery, earthy, mushroomy, brie-like goodness.  It paired perfectly with my wine that I sipped while people watching in the window.  The perfect afternoon!

A red wine with a dark ruby color. Deep spicy nose with hints of tobacco leaves and red berries. A pleasant structure, a freshness with hints of mint, velvety tannins and aromas of Morello cherries with a hint of caramel and liquorice. It offers harmony and length in the mouth. It can be kept 5 to 8 years.

What I Say:

This wine was amazing!  It was super rich and smooth with a hint of spice.  I would come back here just for this glass of red.   The perfect pairing with this Noble Road cheese.  A must try if you visit NYC!

Sometimes the best place to grab a drink after a long work week is a casual neighborhood bar. One of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC to hang out in is soho for the amazing shopping, people watching and restaurants.  Recently while on a shoot I discovered one of the coziest local spots in the Nolita area of soho called Mother's Ruin.  This friendly restaurant bar serves up casual fare and killer drinks in a very informal no frills atmosphere.  This is a great spot to meet friends for a quick cocktail before dinner or just for a fun casual night out.  During my visit I chose the II Raventos Rosé, which they serve from a tap!  It was light and refreshing, the perfect end to a long workday!  Because this spot is great for a pre-dinner drink, I dressed up for both events pairing my velvet J Brand skinnies with this older Zara blouse.  I love a simple black and white blouse because it can be worn for almost any occasion.  The perfect look for drinks with the girls!

An intriguing rosé that conceals the soul of a white wine in its purity and transparence. A splash of Monastrell imparts a special complexity and elegance to Raventós cuvée de Nit, though the classic mineral freshness of this revered Cava house is untouched. What I Say:

This rosé is a perfect after work cocktail or pre-dinner drink.  It is super light and refreshing and would pair well with light appetizers or milder cheeses.  I am a big fan of rosé and this is a wine I would definetely get again!

Today I am sitting down for some Wine & Conversation with NYC based video producer Paisley Gregg.  Paisley is part owner of Pepper and Paul Studios a video production agency that produces branded narrative short films, commercials and music videos.  I met Paisley about a year ago on a shoot and we instantly hit it off.  We decided to meet up for our chat at Miss Paradis a new restaurant in Soho that I have been dying to try ever since it opened (I'm not going to lie, the giant magnum rosé bottles in the window caught my eye)!  Aside from the rosé, the decor of the restaurant is modern, bright and airy with a Mediterranean feel.  Even though we visited on a cold winter day, I instantly felt transported to the south of France.  Because the vibe lent itself to this feeling, we both started out with a glass of L'Opale Rosé from the Côtes de Provence region of France.  I got mine infused with lavender and Paisley got hers infused with elderflower.  Both flavors gave the rose a hint of sweetness and added a refreshing touch.  To go with our wine, we ordered the local burrata dish with gazpacho, fresh basil, cherry tomatoes, and the Miss Paradis black bread, which is colored with activated charcoal. Overall the conversation, wine, food and vibe were amazing! Check out our conversation below where we cover all things style, wine and business!  

How many years have you been living in NYC?

My whole life.

What is your favorite thing about living in NYC?

The diversity! I grew up here and am always shocked by how homogenous other areas of this country can be. I thrive off the diversity of faces, food, fashion, and art in New York City.

Do you prefer red or white wine?

I prefer white wine.  My favorite is Sancerre.

What is your favorite kind of cheese?

This is such a hard question! I adore so many, but if I had to narrow it down, a sheep’s milk cheese is my favorite – such as Petit Basque. Or throw truffles in any cheese and I’m in heaven.

What is your favorite spot(s) in NYC to get wine and cheese?

Murray’s Cheese Bar on Bleecker Street is excellent. They have wonderful cheese plates matched with spreads that compliment each cheese. And they’re great at pairing wines with your choice of cheeses.

How do you see wine and style coming together?

I think drinking a beautiful glass of wine can naturally evoke a sense of style. For instance the casualness of wine served in a water glass makes me think of European seaside cafes, linen, and off the shoulder blouses. And then deep red wine glasses that hold the aroma of the wine conjure up more elegant and tailored styles in my mind.

What is your go-to going out outfit?

I usually like to wear a pair of nice jeans (it’s all about the butt!), a blouse and heeled booties.

What is your favorite brand to wear?

It depends on the item of clothing. I love Vince sweaters and Acne jeans.

What do you think is the one thing every girl needs in her closet?

Hangers. Just kidding. I’m a big fan of jumpsuits or overalls. I think a comfortable jumpsuit is an easy key to cozy style. You need to have one stylish option that doesn’t involve a tight waistband!

Tell me a little about your business Pepper & Paul Studios
Pepper & Paul Studios is a video production agency where we produce branded narrative short films, commercials and music videos. When possible we try to work with and promote businesses with sustainable and philanthropic goals. 

What is your favorite thing about running your business? 
The best thing about having your own business is getting to choose the people you work with. My partner, Henric Olsson-Weller and I work so well together and we have the luxury of choosing people for our crew and talent that we’d gladly spend time with outside of work.

What are the biggest challenges you face when creating video content? 
Our biggest challenge is also our favorite challenge, and that is to create films that entertain, not just advertise. We work at instilling our videos with characters and stories that foster a strong emotional connection with viewers. We like to create relatable scenarios that the audience can bond with. 

Given the current landscape with social media and the rise of video content with Snapchat, Instagram stories, etc., how does this change your approach to content development? 

We definitely keep social media video distribution in mind when producing our videos, but it doesn’t define how we approach writing and shooting a full short film. It’s easy enough to lift or edit a short clip from our videos to use in social media. I think providing behind the scenes content is particularly compelling for social media content. 

Where do you get your inspiration?

Real life. There’s nothing more magical and inspiring than capturing beautiful moments between people or interactions with nature. 

What advice do you have for aspiring filmmakers?  

Be open to non-stop learning. Every project and film serves up challenges and obstacles to hurdle. There are learning opportunities everywhere that will only help you hone your craft.
