Travel Recap: Beautiful Bermuda

Β

Hello City Luxers,

A few weeks ago I traveled to Bermuda for a friends wedding.  I was so excited to go back because I grew up vacationing here as a kid and have so many fun memories.  One of the best things about Bermuda is that if you live on the east coast, it is only a quick hour and half flight.   The pink sand beaches are so beautiful and there is a lot to do and explore.  Since I was only there for a quick weekend, most of my activities centered around the amazing wedding I attended, but I have included some of my favorite things to do below!

  1. Rent a moped: Although the thought of driving a moped on the wrong side of the road in an unfamiliar place can seem scary, in my opinion this is the best way to see the island.  The island is very easy to navigate and there are so many beaches and parks along the coast that being able to jump on and off your moped anytime you want to explore is the best.  It sounds crazy, but riding around the island on my moped is one of my favorite things to do here!
  2. Elbow Beach:  This beautiful stretch of beach is one of my favorites.  It is incredibly scenic, clean and a great place to go swimming.
  3. Church Bay Beach: If you are interested in snorkeling, this is the beach for you.  Just rent a mask and snorkel and you are steps away from reefs with some of the coolest fish around.  My only caution is that the waves here can get kind of rough so be careful!
  4. Swizzle Inn:  This is my favorite place to eat on the island and is a MUST try if you end up vacationing here.  It is a casual pub with great food and drinks.  They are known for their Rum Swizzles with the slogan "Swizzle Inn, Swagger Out".  I personally come here for the chicken fingers....SO tasty!
  5. St. George's:  The quaint and historic town of St. George is a great place to stop and check out.  Here you will get a taste of Bermuda's history and a few of the local shops.

These are just some of my favorite things to do in Bermuda.  I recommend traveling here for anyone looking for a quick and easy getaway with great beaches.  My short time here reminded me of why I love this island so much, I cannot wait to go back!

The Travel Essentials You Need For Your Carry-On Bag

Shop My Picks:

From top left: Louis Vuitton Neverfull Bag // Simple Makeup Wipes // Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss // Fresh Face Oil // Rag & Bone Scarf // Frends Headphones // Kate Spade Passport Holder // Kate Spade Sneakers // All Saints Leather Jacket

Hello City Luxers,

I am going to be heading out of town this weekend so I thought I would share some of my top travel essentials for your carry-on bag.  Whether I am heading out on a long trip or just a short weekend getaway, here are some  of the things that I always take with me:

  • Large Carry-On Bag: I hate checking luggage, and with the two bag carry-on rule I make sure that my "personal" item is a big bag that can fit a lot of stuff.  My favorite carry-on is the Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag.  I got this as a gift a few years ago and it is still one of my favorite things I own.  You can fit so much stuff in this bag which makes it perfect for traveling.  It is big enough to fit all of my essentials like my laptop and purse,  but still small enough to fit under the seat.  While this bag is an investment, it is one that will never go out of style and you will have forever.  Other bags I love for travel are: Saint Laurent Sac de Jour / Tory Burch Large Tote
  • Beauty Essentials: When traveling, it can be difficult keeping up with your normal beauty routine.  Flying also tends to wreak havoc on skin causing it to dry out.  When I am taking long flights, I like to throw some makeup remover wipes in my bag to remove all of my makeup once I take off.  After that, I like to put something on my skin that will keep it moisturized so when I land, I have glowing skin.  My favorites right now are Fresh Seaberry Oil and Simple Makeup Wipes.  Then, once I land I throw on a pair of sunglasses and pop on a bright lip color to give my face a little bit of color before I have a chance to re-apply my makeup.   I really love this Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Rose.
  • Headphones:  Keeping yourself entertained all flight long is the key to making it go by fast and headphones are so important to be able to listen to your music or watch a movie.  I love these super stylish rose gold ones from Frends.
  • Layers: There is nothing worse than being stuck in uncomfortable clothes on a plane.  To stay comfy and warm I like to take my leather jacket or a cute lightweight wrap and simple scarf in case I get chilly.  This All Saints jacket and Rag & Bone scarf are both functional and stylish.  I also love this casual wrap from Under Armour for the plane.
  • Slip on Sneakers: Now that we have to remove our shoes at security, I find that slip on shoes are the fastest and easiest way to go.  They are also comfortable for all the walking around you tend to do in the airport as well.  I love these Kate Spade slip on sneakers!  They are so stylish but also comfortable enough to sprint to your gate it you are running late.
  • Passport Holder: "I can't find my passport" is the last thing you want to say when heading for your flight. I love this cute passport holder from Kate Spade because it is really stylish but also protects your passport.  Having a special holder ensures that you will never leave it behind!

Hopefully, these tips will help you the next time you fly!  Make sure to follow me on Instagram to see where I am traveling to next!

Travel Recap: Destination LA

Hello City Luxers,

A couple weeks ago I took a vacation to Los Angeles for some much needed R&R.  I love to vacation in LA because you are pretty much guaranteed great weather and there is so much to do!  We spent our first few days exploring Marina Del Rey, Venice Beach and Santa Monica.  My favorite area was Santa Monica because you get the best of both worlds --great beaches and a great little downtown area with lots of shopping and nice restaurants.  One day we stopped for lunch at Boa Steakhouse in Santa Monica and had the most delicious salads.  We also tried Mercado for dinner and it was amazing.  I consider myself to be somewhat of a guacamole connoisseur and this was up there in the top 5 on my list!  I would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in Santa Monica and are craving Mexican food.   After eating our way through Santa Monica, we got some much needed exercise at the Runyon Canyon hiking trail.  This trail has breathtaking views of LA and is a must-see if you are looking to get a fun workout in.

Mid-week we decided to head up to Malibu to check out Zuma beach.  As expected, it was beautiful and so scenic with the mountains serving as a back drop.  While in Malibu we stopped for lunch and drinks at Nobu.  The restaurant is right on the water so the views here cannot be beat.  This is a great spot if you are looking for a place to grab a drink and some sushi.  That night we stayed up in the valley in West Lake Village at the Four Seasons.  This hotel has the largest spa of any Four Seasons in the country.  It is a little bit out of the way from the hustle and bustle of LA, but if you are looking for a quiet retreat, this place is for you.

The next day we headed up to Santa Barbara for a day trip because this is one area of California I had never seen before and it did not disappoint.  Everywhere you look it is so beautiful!  After the beach we walked around State Street in the downtown area.  It was the perfect day trip that was capped off by another round at Nobu Malibu where we met up with some family who were also vacationing in LA.  On our last few days we stayed with one of my best friends and enjoyed some shopping on Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills and Manhattan beach.  Overall it was a great trip and I can't wait until I get to visit Cali again.  Until next time LA!
