Oscars 2015: Best & Worst Dressed

Hello City Luxers,

The 2015 Oscars took place last night and there was no shortage of great fashion.   While the actual awards show was a complete snoozefest, the fashion on the red carpet did not disappoint.    There were so many beautiful gowns; I found it really hard to narrow down only four choices for best dressed!  As you can tell by my picks, my obsession with pale pinks and neutral tones continues.  I absolutely loved Gwyneth Paltrow’s pale pink Ralph & Russo one shoulder gown with the rose appliqué on the shoulder. Also, Zoe Saldana killed it post baby in a blush tone Versace that accentuated all of her new mom curves in the right way.  Can you believe this woman gave birth to twins a few months ago?!?! #newmomgoals.  Jennifer Aniston also turned it out in a sparkly nude Versace gown that was a great departure from the black uniform she normally wears.  Finally, I’ve got to give it up to Rosamund Pike who wowed in a red hand embroidered Givenchy Haute Couture strapless gown that was to die for.  I’m normally not a huge fan of red on the carpet, but this dress was STUNNING on her.

Now…..on to my picks for worst dressed. Again, it was kind of tricky finding worst dressed because there really weren’t many epic failures, but I will start with Lady Gaga’s look in custom Azzedine Alaia.  Everyone was freaking out that Alaia dressed her, but to me this gown was just OK and the red gloves were terrible. I JUST DON’T GET IT.  Next up, we have Nicole Kidman who is usually a red carpet favorite of mine, but this Louis Vuitton dress with the red belt just washed her out.  Again, not loving this random pop of red.   Gina Rodriguez came dressed in an eco friendly gown that wasn’t terrible, but could have used some additional tailoring.  Also, this is not something that I would have picked to wear to the Oscars. Finally we have Chloe Grace Moretz who underwhelmed in a Miu Miu gown that looked like drapes I would find in my grandmothers house.  I love the silhouette on her, but the pattern completely aged her.  I wish she wore something a little more youthful.

OK, that is officially a wrap on awards season red carpet fashion!  I hope you liked my picks.  Comment below and let me know who you think was best and worst dressed.

xx,

Colleen
